2017~Feb. 2020 :
CMA Ships Shanghai is the subsidiary office in China providing various supports to CMA CGM’s ship management and newbuilding activities in China.
During his time in CMA CGM, Steven worked as a bridge between CMA CGM and China, he participated almost all negotiations with shipyards, design institutes, etc. for newbuilding and retrofitting, evaluation of shipyards and suppliers. There are more than 30 vessels had been delivered by Chinese shipyards to the company, and every year more than 30 vessels retrofitted and repaired in Chinese shiprepair yards.
He has also been involved in financing new vessels through leasing companies.
He has provided strong support to company’s vessels at Chinese ports, as well as on board accidented vessels for salvage.
Steven Ma also worked as ISM internal auditor.

2002 – 2008: Germanischer Lloyd(GL), China: Surveyor coach and deputy station manager.
Surveys concerning ships in service, new-building, marine equipment. Also responsible for management of station’s office, as well as managing and coordinating pool of surveyors.

1985 – 2002: China Classification Society (CCS), China: Senior surveyor and Dept. manager.
As senior surveyor of CCS Shanghai Branch, he carried out survey/consultant works concerning approval, product certification, survey of new-building and ship in service, evaluation condition of ships, and ISM audit.
During his stay in Hamburg, Germany, between 1998 – 2002, he worked as principal surveyor and manager of Survey Dept. & Plan Approval Dept. of CCS Hamburg Branch, he took overall responsibility to day to day management and performance of survey (technical) work, manage and coordinate surveyors in branch office and in different CCS office in Europe, Africa, etc..
